At this point, you may be feeling like a pregnancy pro because you’re expecting your second baby and you’re almost there! all the same, congratulations. This experience can sometimes be a surprisingly unique one, you find yourself spending most of your time comparing your present feelings and experiences to the previous one, obviously, there is an older kid already.
The main thing here is this, at 8 months into delivery, you’re making progress. Mostly you’re aware of how the day starts and how it eventually ends, you’re also aware of how the weeks go by, and you won’t fail to observe the several symptoms and changes, in all you need to be prepared.
Another daunting challenge we tend to pass through is caring for the older child, while you cope with your physical changes and needs. There is always a way around this, make them understand, it can be really fun you know, and the best way to prepare for your second baby is being aware of the changes. We usually take the second pregnancy phase to be a difficult one, but this shouldn’t be, here are some of the things you should expect.
This is absolutely normal. You will see yourself getting tired easily, the mom thing will have you engage in somethings, but try not to lift heavy objects or do strenuous jobs. Always feel free to ask for help when you feel overwhelmed, but the idea of sitting on the couch all day and doing nothing is not the best way to go about this, try dealing with the fatigue and engage yourself in minor activities.
Plan for the other kid(s)
Help them adjust to the idea of welcoming a new baby, because the older child may have a range of feelings, which they express through their actions because they can’t verbalize their feelings. Make them understand, talk about what having a sibling will look like to them, taking them along while shopping for baby items and encourage the idea of special gifts for the unborn child. Never give them a chance to think you’re neglecting their needs.
The fetal movements
During your first pregnancy remember the unusual bubbly things you assumed to be gas, now this is the second and you’re more likely to know when the baby is kicking. Around 14 weeks you’ll start feeling the baby, and the baby bump starts popping out gradually.
The morning sickness thing
Probably you kept throwing up during your first three months of your older child, and you might be wondering if you’ll pass through that again. Definitely, you can/will have the morning sickness thing again, just try to always cheer up for your older kid and people around sometimes.
Your mental wellbeing.
The second pregnancy feels more difficult obviously, you’re most likely to be in a different place than you were with the first. Make out time for yourself, rally for the help of family and friends. Take your medications, exercise should be in your daily routine, and a night of good sleep at night will make a big difference in your overall health and well being.
Don’t forget to take proper diet and most of all, get your baby stuffs ready and keep the house in a condition that will be favorable for a newborn.
